AMAZON x WiCYS Capture the Flag (CTF) 2024
Amazon Security will be hosting a multi-city Capture the Flag (CTF) competition for members of WiCyS who have 1+ years of post graduate industry experience. The event will take place on November 14th and 15th during Amazon’s 2024 conference.
The CTF event will be held in-person at three locations: Arlington, VA; New York, NY; and Seattle, WA.
The challenge categories may include web, networking, crypto, stego, recon, reverse engineering and pwn. Participation will be individual, but members will be allowed to collaborate.
The virtual CTF platform will be open for 48 hours!
Take advantage of this opportunity to showcase your skills and potentially interview with the Amazon Security hiring teams on-site.
Note: Due to internal constraints we cannot guarantee interviews to all participants.
Available to:
- 450 WiCyS members (150 per location)
- Members committed to attending the CTF event in person at one of the 3 locations
REQUIREMENTS:
- Attend the CTF event in person
- Bring a government issued identification to register at the event
- Bring a personal laptop to participate
- Be an active member of WiCyS (including international members) with 1+ years of post graduate industry experience
Timeline:
October 25: Application opens
November 6: Application closes
November 7 – 8: Acceptance selections are made and commitment form emailed by 5pm CT
November 12: Deadline for submission of commitment form is 3pm CT
November 12 – 13: CTF registration details, event address, digital badges emailed by 5pm CT
November 14 – November 15: Amazon Security x WiCyS CTF competition event
WHAT TO EXPECT IF SELECTED FOR THIS EVENT:
- The CTF event is a 2 day event held on November 14 and November 15.
- The CTF event will take place live, simultaneously in 3 locations: Arlington, VA ; New York, NY; and Seattle, WA. Please note the Arlington event will take place in a different location each day.
- Each CTF location will only be hosting 150 participants.
- Participants are responsible for their own travel.
- For the New York, NY and Arlington, VA locations:
- DAY 1 – doors open at 10:30 am EST and the event kicksoff at 11 am and ends 4:30 pm EST.
- DAY 2 – doors open same as above. The event kicksoff at 11 am EST and ends 4:30 pm EST.
- For the Seattle, WA location:
- DAY 1- doors open at 10:30 am PST. The event kicksoff at 11 am PST and ends 4:30 pm PST.
- DAY 2 – doors open same as above. The event kicksoff at 11 am PST and ends 4:30 pm PST
- Lunch will be provided by Amazon.
- The virtual CTF platform will be open for 48 hours.
- An award ceremony will be held at the end of Day 2.
- Participants will have the opportunity to interview with Amazon teams on-site for globally available security engineering roles. Not all participants are guaranteed on site interviews due to time restrictions.
- WiCyS Executive Director Lynn Dohm will host a live-streamed kickoff from the New York City location.
